SHOP 'N SAVE TO LAUNCH NEW S&H GREENPOINTS CUSTOMER LOYALTY PROGRAM
Supermarket Chain Will be the First to Bring Exclusive Partnership to State, Tri-State Area
NEW STANTON, PA – January 20, 2002 –
A generation of Americans grew up with them, Andy Warhol immortalized them in his art,
and consumers redeemed more than $10 billion in rewards with them. S&H Green Stamps
were all the rage and everywhere you looked, America was collecting them. Then times
changed and the stamps became a warm memory for millions of baby boomers and their
parents. That is, until now.
Green stamps have gone digital. They’ve been reinvented as S&H greenpoints
and are better than ever. Today, SHOP 'n SAVE announced that 80 of its stores throughout
Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio will begin offering S&H greenpoints to their
customers. People can now sign up for their SHOP 'n SAVE Rewards with S&H greenpoints
card at participating stores, which can be located on its web site at www.shopnsavefood.com.
S&H greenpoints are a digital version of the 106-year-old S&H Green Stamps program.
The new program gives SHOP 'n SAVE an opportunity to reward its customers in a number
of ways. When making their usual purchases, shoppers will receive 10 greenpoints per
dollar for every dollar they spend (excluding beer, wine, services, and taxes).
Customers also will have special opportunities to earn bonus greenpoints on selected
items throughout the store. They will then be able to use those greenpoints to obtain
more than 1,000 items from the S&H Rewards Catalog, ranging from movie tickets to VCRs
to cruises. Soon, customers also will be able to redeem their greenpoints at SHOP 'n SAVE
for free or discounted groceries.
“S&H greenpoints provide a new, yet time-honored way for us to
reward our customers and provide them with even greater value every time they shop
at SHOP 'n SAVE,” said Bob McCartney, vice president of retail marketing for SHOP 'n SAVE.
“S&H is a name that is already well known to many of our customers. This program will
provide them with the opportunity to redeem greenpoints for merchandise from the S&H
Rewards Catalog, and soon at SHOP 'n SAVE for super specials – in effect, reducing their

100 premiere merchants offering clothing, home furnishings, and more.

SHOP 'n SAVE is the only supermarket and the only company in the area to offer
S&H greenpoints. Customers will begin earning greenpoints immediately upon enrolling.
Greenpoints earned will be automatically totaled after each purchase, and the customer’s
total balance will be printed on the receipt.
